A GANG SHOOTING HOSPITALIZED A SALINAS MAN ON SATURDAY.  AT ABOUT 5:20 P-M, OFFICERS ARRIVED ON THE 15-HUNDRED BLOCK OF CHEROKEE DRIVE, TO FIND A 21-YEAR OLD MALE VICTIM SUFFERING FROM 2 BULLET WOUNDS.     OFFICIALS SAY THE VICTIM WAS IN HIS GARAGE WHEN A GANG MEMBER ENTERED AND OPENED FIRE, STRIKING THE VICTIM IN THE ARM AND THE LEG, BEFORE FLEEING THE SCENE ON FOOT.  THE SUSPECT IS DESCRIBED AS A LATINO MALE, 18 TO 19 YEARS OLD, 5 FOOT 6, 170 POUNDS, WITH A SHAVED HEAD.  ANYONE WITH ANY INFORMATION ON THE SHOOTING IS ENCOURAGED TO CONTACT THE SALINAS POLICE DEPARTMENT.
