The Sand Fire in Amador County has burned more than 42-hundred acres, and is approximately 95 percent contained. So far it has destroy 19 homes and 47 outbuildings. All evacuation orders and road closures have been lifted. This wildfire is believed to have been caused by a vehicle driving on dry vegetation. About 950 firefighters are working to put this wildfire out, and they expect to have full containment by Saturday.
The French Fire has burned about 56 hundred acres in the Sequoia National Forest and firefighters have zero containment so far. That blaze broke out around 5:45 a-m Monday. Rock Creek, Soda Springs, Fish Creek, Mile High, Lower Chiquita, Windy Point, Sweetwater, China Bar, and Placer campgrounds have been evacuated. Several summer homes in the Hougue Apple Ranch and Wagner’s Resort areas have also been evacuated. More than 1-thousand firefighters are on-scene.
The El Portal Fire in Yosemite National Park and the Darkhole Fire in Stanislaus National Forest have burned more than 35-hundred acres of the Sierra Nevada so far, with about 34 percent containment. The El Portal Fire began around 3:15 p-m Saturday. Crane Flat and Yosemite Creek Campgrounds are still closed, and Bridal Veil Campground is being used for fire operations. 1 structure was destroyed in Foresta, California.
