A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE MONTEREY BAY AQUARIUM AND THE PAJARO VALLEY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT IS BEING HONORED WITH A PRESTIGIOUS AWARD. THE NOYCE FOUNDATION’S “Bright lights community engagement award RECOGNIZES SELECT MUSEUMS AND SCIENCE CENTERS FOR THEIR COMMUNITY OUTREACH. THE COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE AQUARIUM AND THE P-V-U-S-D INCLUDES FREE AQUARIUM SCHOOL PROGRAMS FOR WATSONVILLE-AREA STUDENTS…INCLUDING WATSONVILLE AREA TEENS CONSERVING HABITATS, YOUNG WOMEN IN SCIENCE, AND AFFORDABLE ACCESS PROGRAMS FOR LOW INCOME FAMILIES. OTHER RECIPIENTS OF THIS YEAR’S “BRIGHT LIGHTS” AWARD ARE THE SAN JOSE TECHNOLOGY MUSEUM, THE HANDS-ON CHILDREN’S MUSEUM IN OLYMPIA WASHINGTON, THE FRANKLIN INSTITUTE IN PHILADELPHIA PENNSYLVANIA, AND THE SCIENCE MUSEUM OF MINNESOTA.
