biologists with the monterey peninusla water management district are rescuing fish from the carmel river. the low levels of water in the river due to the drought has led to the rescue of upwards of 3-thousand endangered steelhead trout yearlings. the 5 inch long fish are to be moved up stream to deeper pools of water, with the hope they survive the season and there is enough rain next year to carry them out to sea. the rescue efforts have been taking place since march.
