The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that Monterey County will be 1 of 171 communities nationwide receiving brownfields funding to clean and redevelop contaminated properties. The grant to the County will be used to clean up the former San Lucas Branch Library on Teresa Streetin San Lucas. The site is currently vacant and contaminated . Once cleaned up, the site will once again be used for a library.
