u-c-s-c has received a 1-million dollar donation. the gift is from university alumna, julie packard. during the 1970’s packard earned her bachelor’s amd master’s degrees in biology. in 1984 she started the monterey bay aquarium. packard is the current executive director of the aquarium. the 1 million dollar gift is to be used to help minority students interested in the sciences.
