WATER RATIONING-4/6/14-1934-PMD

THE PROPOSED WATER RESTRICTIONS THAT ARE SET TO TAKE EFFECT ON MAY 1ST COULD COST SANTA CRUZ MILLIONS.   THE RATIONING PLAN IS TO GO AHEAD, EVEN WITH THE BOOST TO WATER LEVELS FROM THE BETTER THAN AVERAGE RAINFALL TOTALS OVER THE PAST 2 MONTHS.  THE PLAN IS EXPECTED TO COST APPROXIMATELY 1 MILLION DOLLARS IN WAGES FOR THE NEW EMPLOYEES NEEDED TO MANAGE AND ENFORCE THE MANDATED RESTRICTIONS, CITY OFFICIALS ARE ALSO ANTICIPATING OVER A MILLION DOLLARS IN LOST REVENUE DUE TO THE LOWER AMOUNT OF WATER THAT CAN BE SOLD UNDER THE RESTRICTIONS.
