STILLWATER COVE-3/13/14-2135-PMD

MONTEREY COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT OFFICIALS LIFTED THE HEALTH ADVISORY FROM STILLWATER COVE BEACH.  AUTHORITIES LIFTED THE WARNING YESTERDAY (THURS) MORNING AS BACTERIA LEVELS DROPPED BACK INTO ACCEPTABLE RANGES.   AS RECENTLY AS TUESDAY BACTERIA LEVELS WERE ELEVATED PAST THE SAFE FOR RECREATION USE STANDARD. LEVELS USUALLY SURGE AFTER PERIODS OF RAIN DUE TO STORM RUN-OFF.  THE STATE REQUIRES MONITORING OF BEACHES THAT ATTRACT UPWARDS OF 50 THOUSAND VISITORS ANNUALLY.
