The identity has been released of a Carmel Valley man who died after crashing his minivan into a tree over the weekend. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Unit identified the man as 78-year old William j. Fischer. Fischer was traveling westbound on Carmel Valley Road near Via Mallorca at about 5 p.m., when for unknown reasons, he veered to the left and hit a tree in the center divider. According to The CHP Fischer may have had a medical condition at the time of the incident.
