A temporary pipeline linking water from the San Lorenzo Valley to Lompico is being considered in an effort to address the mountain community’s dire water situation. Last month Lompico was listed as one of 17 rural districts in the state to be in danger of running out of water within 2 to 4 months. On Monday Lompico voted to fund the San Lorenzo pipeline. Officials say the pipeline is a temporary solution for the nearly 500-household water district, and would not replace a permanent structure. The San Lorenzo Valley Water District is expected to meet Friday to discuss a possible long-term merger with Lompico’s Water District.
