Public Water Measure Headed To Voters 01-31-14 11:30 av

A measure aimed at having public ownership of Calfornia Ammerican Water is now headed to the June ballot.   The board of directors with The Monterey Peninsula Water Management District voted to place the proposed initiative on the June 3rd ballot.  The board also approved a schedule for qualifying the measure for the ballot, and adopted a series of voluntary interim water conservation measures as well.   The initiative would require a feasibility study on buying Cal-Am’s Monterey-area system, and create an acquistion plan within nine months of passage.
