Gov. Brown Declares Drought Emergency 01-17-14 10:30 av

After a record-dry year with no rain in the forecast, Governor Jerry Brown has declared a drought emergency for the state of California. The proclamation comes after what the Governor calls the worst drought the state has ever seen since about 100-years ago.  In the State of Emergency declaration, Governor Brown wants farmers and communities that are ecologically impacted by the dry conditions, to receive financial assistance, and is also calling for the suspension of some state and federal regulations.  Meanwhile, the Governor is also encouraging people to conserve water, and says his administration is considering a mandatory conservation order as well.
