Monterey Brown Act Investigaton 01-15-14 12:30 av

A Monterey County District Attorney is expected to follow up on a request to investigate alleged violations of the state’s open meetings law.   This comes after criticism of Monterey County Board of Supervisors for conducting closed session performance evaluations of key county officials.  Critics say the board violated the state’s Brown Act, which prohibits secret meetings of official bodies.  The board was also warned that violating the law knowingly is a misdemeanor for public officials. Meanwhile, a lawsuit was filed this week by the Save Our Peninsula Committee ordering the county comply with the Brown Act following a closed session held on November 5th.
