A hearing to discuss fracking in the Salinas Valley, will take place tonight. Environmental activists, farmers and ranchers are expected to attend tonight’s meeting, which will be held from 3-to-7-p.m. at the National Steinbeck Center located at one Main Street in Salinas. The pro-clean water and air group of San Benito known as San Benito Rising will also be on hand, and will hold a rally with featured speakers beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tonight’s hearing comes after newly enacted draft regulations for fracking and extreme extraction were released by Governor Jerry Brown, along with an Oil and Gas Ordinance approved by San Benito County supervisors last summer.
