Santa Cruz Burn Ban 12-30-13 11:30 av

A burn ban has been declared for Santa Cruz County.   Cal Fire has suspended all open burning due to the threat of fire activity.    Officials say current and predicted fire weather, lack of rain, and vegetation dryness has caused the ban to go into effect as of 8 a.m. this morning.  Campfires within organized campgrounds, or on private property, are allowed with landowner permission, along with agricultural, forest and vegetation management and fire training burning also with a special permit. Other counties under the current burn ban include, Santa Clara and San Mateo.
