A potential three week road improvement project is expected to cause some delays on a portion of Highway 1 in Big Sur next week. Caltrans is slated to begin work on a temporary traffic signal along with a guardrail on Highway 1 just north of Big Creek Bridge near Lucia on Monday. Officials say the work is being done in an effort to stabilize the ocean side lane, until permanent repairs can be made, and could take up to three weeks to complete. Highway 1 and local businesses are expected to remain open during this time, and 10 minute traffic delays are to be expected. After the work is done, Caltrans says the roadway will have signalized reversing one-way traffic control 24-hours a day.
