Salinas City officials announced yesterday the opening of a temporary shelter for people seeking a warm place on cold nights. The warming shelter is located on 37 Central Avenue in Salinas, and will open on Wednesday December 18th. Up to 40 single men and women will be able to shelter in from the cold on a first come first served basis. Doors open at 7:15 p.m., and dinner will also be provided. Participants will have to vacate the premises before 8 a.m. each day. The shelter is expected to be kept open 7 nights a week through the end of March.
