The City of Capitola selected a new mayor last night. Sam Storey will replace termed out mayor Stephanie Harlan. Storey, who was voted in on a 4–0 vote by council members, is currently in his final year of his second term as a city council member. Councilman Dennis Norton, was chosen vice mayor also on a 4–0 vote. Looking back, Harlan described 2013 as a really good year citing notable challenges of a single homicide and a financial turnaround mid year.
