The City of Monterey held it’s official Christmas tree lighting ceremony Friday, the first one after an economic downturn led to it being cut four years ago. The traditional ceremony was cut along with other city events and services. The event was marked with the Monterey Community Band leading Christmas carols in front of Colton Hall, along with the Monterey High School R-O-T-C, who presented flags. Santa Claus also made an appearance on the balcony of Colton Hall. The event was made possible by the Old Monterey Business Association and First Night Monterey.
