A contractor has been chosen to build the proposed Marina desalination plant.  Cal-Am water officials chose Massachusetts-based C-D-M Constructors Incorporated, based on it’s prior work and experience in dozens of similar projects, along with work done at the Sand City desalination plant and the Pebble Beach Company’s recycled water project.   The new plant is said to be at the core of the Monterey Peninsula water supply project, which is designed to provide a new water supply to offset a state-ordered cutback in pumping from the Carmel River, slated to take full effect at the end of 2016.   A special meeting is set for this week with the project’s public governance committee to discuss Cal-Am’s selection.
