Salinas Plane Performs Emerg. Landing 12-09-13 07:50 av

A single engine plane that departed from a Salinas airport last week, had to make an emergency landing due to equipment failure.  Authorities say the Piper PA 24 was heading from Salinas to Auburn Thursday afternoon, when the pilot noticed engine trouble and landed the plane in a Fair Oaks park just after 2:30.   A Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson says the aircraft suddenly lost power and glided into a hard landing, hitting the tops of some trees and clipping a parked car before coming to a rest.  No injuries were reported and the FAA says they plan to investigate the incident.
