Hartnell Center Water Main Break 12-04-13 17:00 av

Freezing temperatures caused a water main to break at a Monterey County Hospital laboratory early this morning.   The Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula had to close the Hartnell Professional Center in downtown Monterey after frozen water caused two underground pipes to burst at about 4 a.m.   Crews, who were still repairing the break by noon, had to dig up the paved road to access the pipes.   The closure affected the Radiology department, Laboratory services and Outpatient Behavioral Health Services. The break also closed the center for donating blood.
