Two suspicious packages were destroyed after being found at the Santa Cruz Resource recovery Facility last week. Police say workers came across two cylindrical objects capped at both ends with wires sticking out of them at about 9 a.m. The objects, which were thought to have been pipe bombs, were found in a remote part of the landfill, in the electrical recycling area. The Santa Cruz Bomb Squad destroyed the objects. The remains are expected to undergo examination. Officials say there was no threat to the public.
