A man was arrested after he attempted to steal an SPCA donation box in Salinas yesterday. Police say 21-year old Salvador Barone was spotted with the money for the Monterey County SPCA after he seen running away from Jurassic Pets on South Main Street, where the donation box was taken from. Officers found the box in some bushes before he was stopped, along with a hammer after he was searched. Barone was booked into Monterey County jail for burglary, providing false information about his identity, and violation of probation.
