Lost or stray animals will no longer be accepted after hours at the Monterey County Animal Services animal shelter. Beginning Friday, the shelter’s “night drop” kennels will no longer be available. Instead stray or found pets can be dropped off from noon to five p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The shelter, located on 160 Hitchcock Road in Salinas, says the change is expected to increase chances for pets to be reunited with their owners, and also prevent healthy animals from being exposed to diseases.
