Officials report a relatively quiet night after Halloween revelers took to the streets in downtown Santa Cruz last night. The official statistics are in and the festivities brought in an estimated crowd of 20,000 people. 120 police officers were out in force and made 32 arrests, 25 for public intoxication, the remaining 7 included parole violations, and drug offenses. Safety enhancement zone/triple fine citations came to 16. Police say the crowd demeanor was more calm and celebratory this year, officers proactively mitigated a number of incidents involving gang posturing and there were no significant incidents of violence throughout the evening.
