COUNTRY SINGER VISITS SCHOOLS 10/28/13 1800 OG

ON MONDAY, IN HONOR OF NATIONAL BULLYING PREVENTION AWARENESS MONTH, COUNTRY SINGER LIZZIE SIDER VISITED TWO CENTRAL COAST SCHOOLS.     STUDENTS AT LINCOLN SCHOOL IN SALINAS AND R.O. HARDIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN HOLLISTER HEARD FROM THE 15- YEAR OLD SIDER ABOUT HER OWN EXPERIENCES WITH BULLYING AND HER INSPIRATION FOR HER SONG “BUTTERFLIES”.    STUDENTS ALSO SPENT THEIR MORNING LEARNING HOW TO IDENTIFY A BULLY AND WHAT TO DO IF THEY ARE A VICTIM.     THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGISTS SAYS BULLYING IS THE MOST COMMON FORM OF VIOLENCE IN AMERICAN SOCIETY WITH MORE THAN 3 MILLION KIDS EFFECTED EACH YEAR.
