STONE APPNTD TO CMTY-10/10/13-16:03-PMD

A MONTEREY BAY ASSEMBLY MEMBER HAS BEEN APPOINTED TO SERVE ON THE ASSEMBLY SELECT COMMITTEE ON JUSTICE REINVESTMENT.   MARK STONE, WHO AS A SANTA CRUZ COUNTY SUPERVISOR WAS INVOLVED WITH PUBLIC SAFETY, THE JUVENILE JUSTICE COORDINATING COUNCIL AND OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT ISSUES, HAS BEEN APPOINTED TO THE SELECT COMMITTEE.  THE GROUP WILL EXAMINE PUBLIC SAFETY ISSUES ALONG WITH PRISON CONDITIONS. MEMBERS OF SELECT COMMITTEES ANALYZE SYSTEMS AND THEN MAKE LEGISLATIVE RECOMMENDATIONS,  THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO VOTE ON THOSE ISSUES.   THE COMMITTEE’S FIRST MEETING IS SLATED FOR OCTOBER 21ST IN THE CAPITAL.
