SENTENCED TO 80 YRS-10/6/13-11:25-PMD

2 MEN WERE SENTENCED TO 80 YEARS TO LIFE IN A SALINAS COURT ROOM ON FRIDAY. 21 YEAR OLDS MATHEW RUIZ AND ALBERT HERNANDEZ HAD BEEN CONVICTED OF THE OCTOBER 14TH 2009 SHOOTING OF 4 TEENAGE BOYS.  RUIZ AND HERNANDEZ, WHO WERE 17 AT THE TIME, LURED THE 4 JUVENILE RIVAL GANG MEMBERS TO A SECLUDED SPOT AND OPENED FIRE, KILLING 2 OF THE YOUTHS, 1 WAS LEFT A PARAPLEGIC AND 1 RECOVERED FROM HIS WOUNDS.  THE PROSECUTER HAD ARGUED FOR LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE, BECAUSE A LAW SIGNED LAST MONTH MAY ALLOW THEM TO BE CONSIDERED FOR PAROLE AS SPECIAL YOUTH OFFENDERS WHEN THE TURN 25.
