a pedestrian was killed in salinas friday night. according to police at around 11:10 p-m, a 53 year old man at the sherwood shopping center tried to sprint through the intersection of north main street and iris drive when he was hit by a truck in the far lane. the victim died enroute to an area hospital. the driver of the truck was deemed properly licensed and was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
