54  MILLION  DOLLARS  WORTH  OF  “SPECIALTY  CROP”  BLOCK  GRANTS  ARE  BEING  DISTRIBUTED  BY  THE  U.S. DEPARTMENT OF  AGRICULTURE.     CALIFORNIA,  WHICH  IS  THE  STATE WITH  THE  LARGEST  SPECIALTY  CROP  INDUSTRY,  WILL  GET  MORE  THAN  18  MILLION  DOLLARS….FOR 65  PROJECTS.    THE  MONEY  IS  MEANT  TO BE USED  FOR  SPECIALTY CROP  AND  PESTICIDE  RESEARCH, AS  WELL  AS  INCREASING  HEALTHY  FOOD  CHOICES  IN  LOW-INCOME  AREAS,  AND  PROMOTING  ORGANIC  AND  LOCALLY  GROWN  PRODUCE.
