Salinas Police have arrested a suspected car thief. Late Monday, Salinas Police witnessed a car speeding through the Target parking lot near 1640 North Main Street. The ensuing traffic stop revealed the driver; 28-year-old Gerardo Cervantes has two shaved keys and a methamphetamine pipe. Cervantes said he borrowed the car from a friend Friday, but the vehicle was reported stolen Saturday. He was booked into Monterey County jail.
