THE PACIFIC GROVE COUNCIL ON WEDNESDAY SAID IT LOOKS TO BE FORMING A SINGLE POLICE AGENCY FOR THE MONTEREY BAY PENINSULA AS A COST-REDUCING PLAN.      THE COUNCIL HAD PROPOSALS FROM THE MONTEREY COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE, MONTEREY AND SEASIDE FOR CONTRACT POLICE SERVICES ALONG WITH A COST-TRIMMING PLAN PUT TOGETHER BY THE CITY’S OWN DEPARTMENT.  RATHER THAN CHOOSE AMONG FOUR PEOPLE, THE COUNCIL DIRECTED CITY ADMINISTERS TO WORK OVER THE NEXT FOUR TO SIX MONTHS ON THE POSSIBILITY OF FORMING A JOINT POWERS AGENCY TO OVERSEE POLICE SERVICES FOR ALL SEVEN OF THE PENINSULA’S CITIES.
