santa cruz employees may see bonuses this year. the bonuses could be issued to city emplyees if the city does end up with the projected 2 million dollar surplus. The surplus which is contingent on a finanical disagreement with the state financial planner’s assertion the city owes the state 2 million dollars, is due to employee sacrafices. Employee advocate groups such as unions say the tenative bonuses would be little more than a token in comparison to the 8 percent in salary and benefits concessions cityworkers have endured.
