FBI charge Salinas man

The FBI has charged a Salinas man and his partner in a foreclosure rescue scheme.

44-year-old Santiago Palacios of Salinas and 34-year-old Juan Curiel of Visalia have been indicted on 11 counts.

Both men are alleged to be the operators of Star Reliable Mortgage, a business in Salinas, Visalia, and Bakersfield.

Together the men lied to potential clients saying the government had set aside money to pay off their mortgage.

The Company would charge an upfront fee for their service.

The scheme involved more than 2 point 5 million dollars in losses from clients and other financial institutions.

If convicted the two men face a maximum of 30 years in prison and a 1 million dollar fine.
