Updated: 5/27/13, 4:55 P.M.

The Monterey county planning commission will be meeting tomorrow to discuss a project to bring industrial wind turbines to Gonzales.

The joint venture is between the city of Gonzales and developer Herbert Myer and proposes the construction of two turbines that could stand between 327 feet and nearly 400 feet tall.

Current Monterey county ordinance caps height at 200 feet, developers will be asking the commission to still accommodate the proposed turbines.

The power generated would be used to power the proposed Vista de Santa Lucia Agricultural Business Park in Gonzales.

Winds from the Monterey Bay and funneled down the Salinas Valley.

The meeting will be Wednesday at 9am at the supervisors chambers on West Alisal in Salinas.
