Murders sentenced to life

Three men have pleaded guilty to various charges surrounding a 2009 murder.

30-year-old Jose Velasquez, 26-year-old Alejandro Chavez, and 23-year-old Cristobal Ramirez all entered pleas of guilty last week to the murder of Oscar Sanchez.

The three men lured 35-year-old Sanchez into a car in January 2009 and drove him to a remote area of Santa Cruz County where they beat and stabbed him to death.

Velasquez pled guilty to first degree murder and will serve life in prison without the possibility of parole. Chavez pleaded guilty to 17 felonies including manslaughter and kidnapping, he was sentenced to 60 years in state prison, and Ramirez pled guilty to 7 felonies and will serve 35 years in prison.
