According to CHP, a man who walked onto Highway 1 near Airport Boulevard yesterday was attempting to commit suicide. The man, who is thought to be in his 30’s, walked onto the freeway around 5:30am Sunday and was struck by at least 2 cars. His injuries were reported to be significant, and he was still in Valley Medical Center as of Sunday afternoon. The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Department is working with CHP to investigate the case.
