Marina Police arrested a man on weapons charges after they chased him down when he tried to flee. Police arrived at a residence on the 700 block of Landrum Court to find several men, 2 of whom tried to flee. 21-year-old Nathan Ortiz was stopped and arrested for public intoxication. Ortiz was uncooperative with police, and when he was searched officers found a stolen semi-automatic handgun in his pocket. The gun was reported stolen from Salinas several months ago. The charges of possession of a stolen firearm and of a concealed weapon were also given to Ortiz, who was booked into Monterey County Jail.
