SC grad, NFL player, asked not to publicly support gay marriage 09/09/12 10p.m. TDH

A santa cruz high school graduate who now plays for the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens is drawing attention for his outspoken support of same-sex marriage.  Brendon Ayanbadejo has been publicly supporting marriage equality since 2008, but now a maryland lawmaker is asking him to [quote] “concentrate on football.”   maryland house of delegates member emmett c. burns junior, (a democrat), sent a letter to the ravens’ owner requesting that management [quote] “inhibit such expressions.”  ravens management did just the opposite, issuing a letter in support of the linebacker’s right to speak his mind.    Maryland voters will decide this november on whether or not to legalize gay marriage in the state.   The letter was sent following ayanbadejo’s donation of a pair of Ravens tickets to a fundraiser for a group supporting the ballot initiative.
