SALMON SHARKS – 8/27/12 5:41p DMF

SHARKS HAVE BEEN WASHING UP ON THE SHORE ALL THE WAY FROM HALF MOON BAY TO MARINA.     A SHARK EXPERT BELIEVES THAT A SPECIFIC BIO-TOXIN THAT ONLY AFFECTS SALMON SHARKS IS THE CAUSE.      THE SALMON SHARK IS COMMON IN PARTS OF JAPAN AND ALASKA BUT NOT TO THE MONTEREY BAY AREA, WHICH SPARKS CONCERN AMONGST SHARK EXPERTS.     MARINE BIOLOGISTS SAY THAT ALTHOUGH THE SALMON SHARK IS A LARGE PREDATOR, THEY TYPICALLY FEED ON MARINE MAMMALS AND HUMANS ARE NOT WHAT THEY ARE AFTER.
