The Monterey Peninsula Unified School District board of trustees approved a lease for a Watsonville based medical clinic on Monday, despite warnings from other organizations. The board vote 4 to 3 in favor of extending a 10-month lease to Salud Para la Gente. A representative from the Clinica de Salud del Valle de Salinas urged the school district board to explore other options, and to research why the Santa Cruz County based clinic would want to expand into Monterey. Salud Para la Gente will gain use of one room and shared use of some other areas on a Seaside school’s grounds for the purposes of turning the site into a dental clinic.
