WHALES IN THE MONTEREY BAY 08/21/12 8:00p DMF

DUE TO LOTS OF SHRIMP-LIKE KRILL, OBSERVERS SAY THEY’VE SEEN A SHARP INCREASE IN THE NUMBERS OF ENDANGERED BLUE AND HUMPBACK WHALES IN THE MONTEREY BAY AREA. THE BLUE WHALE CAN GROW UP TO 98 FEET LONG,  AND WEIGH AS MUCH AS 180 METRIC TONS;  WHILE THE HUMPBACK WHALE CAN GROW UP TO ABOUT 50 FEET AND WEIGH IN AT ABOUT 79,000 POUNDS.
