MCO gets jail grant 08/09/12 6p.m. TDH

The Monterey County Board of Supervisors met this morning for a special meeting, to accept a 36-million dollar state grant.   The grant money will go towards expanding monterey county jail (which is over capacity).  The grant requires matching funds from monterey county (of 10-percent of the 36-million dollars).   the expansion- effort could take up to 3-years to complete, at which time the jail would have an estimated 3-hundred additional beds.
