Monterey city planning commissioners have ordered a local bar to reduce its hours. Commissioners voted 5 to 1 Tuesday to require the luxe sports bar and lounge to close at 1:30 a.m. commission staffers had recommended requiring the bar to close at midnight, however commissioners agreed that that could be detrimental to the business. In addition to the reduced hours, the bar will have to implement new security measures, including installing closed-circuit cameras and an i-d scanner. The restrictions can be appealed to the city council. The planning commission is expected to finalize the move on july 24th.
