A shark attacked a man fishing from his kayak Saturday morning. at 8:30 a.m., the 52-year-old Fremont man was about a quarter-mile from pleasure point, (near Capitola), when the shark lifted the man’s kayak from the front, and knocked the man into the water. He was safely rescued by a nearby boater—no injuries were reported. The shark was estimated to be between 14 and 18 feet long. The victim told santa cruz county sheriff’s deputies that he was unsure of what kind of shark it was.
