Santa clara county withholds 49ers $ 06/25/12 8:40p.m. TDH

Members of Santa clara county’s redevelopment-trust-fund oversight board have voted to withhold 30-million dollars from the project to build a new 49ers football stadium.  Members of the newly-established oversight board voted 4 to 3 friday to cancel the agreement, with the goal of redirecting the funds to education and other areas.  The oversight board was established in the wake of the elimination of redevelopment agencies in California.  Board members are tasked with dispersing the remaining redevelopment money that the state allowed santa clara county to keep.   Officials with the city of santa clara are set to discuss the matter at a closed door meeting tuesday.    49ers representatives are expected to respond later this week.  The move is not expected to delay the construction of the stadium in the short term.
