Castle rock to remain open 06/12/12 8p.m. TDH

A deal has been reached between state parks officials and the non-profit sempervirens fund that is expected to keep castle rock state park open for at least the next year.  The park in santa cruz county was among the 70-state parks slated for closure due to budget cuts. The 250-thousand dollar deal to keep the 52-hundred acre park open involves continuing to fund operations through the state, rather than sempervirens taking control of the park.   The agreement also allows parks officials to open a previously closed 13-hundred acre parcel of land known as “the san Lorenzo river redwoods.”
