Nearly 4-thousand uncounted votes are expected to be tallied Thursday for santa cruz county supervisorial district-5.   the race looks likely to be heading for a runoff in November, though that could change with the addition of the thousands of uncounted votes, which are mostly vote-by-mail ballots that were returned close to the end of the voting day.   there are about 20-thousand votes in santa cruz county that are yet to be counted.   In district-5, bruce mcpherson is close to the 50-percent mark needed to win the seat outright and avoid a November runoff.  His closest opponent, eric hammer, has so far garnered 38-percent of the district’s vote.
