Monterey Plastic Bag Ban 06/06/12 15:25 AF

Monterey County may soon join the ranks of several other Northern California counties and municipalities in banning plastic bag.   The county has drafted an ordinance that would get rid of single use bags in unincorporated areas.    The enactment has been in the works for nearly a year, as the county waiting for a pending decision from the state for a possible overall ban.    After that bill failed to pass, Monterey County decided to move forward with its own.   The draft ordinance was approved at a meeting of the county’s Alternative Energy and Environment Committee in May, but is still waiting for legal review.
